Beyond this natural wonder, a second junction beckons, guiding us upward to the lofty Arrow Glacier, perched at an altitude of 16,000ft. Our path now descends to the welcoming embrace of Barranco Hut at 13,000ft. Here, we unwind, savor a delightful dinner, and rest for the night. While the day concludes at the same elevation, its significance for acclimatization cannot be overstated, preparing our bodies for the ultimate summit day.

This shorter day is designed specifically for acclimatization, allowing us to acclimate to the high altitude.

Pressing onward, we ascend to the esteemed Barafu Hut. At this juncture, the South Circuit adventure concludes, granting us panoramic views of the summit from diverse perspectives. Here, we set up camp, rejuvenate, relish a nourishing dinner, and prepare ourselves for the impending summit day. The day dawns with an early rise, timed perfectly with the sunrise, marking the onset of what's famously known as the most exhilarating and demanding day of your mountain journey. For 5-7 hours, you'll navigate the challenging scree and ash paths of Kibo, pushing yourself toward a significant milestone: Stella Point, the crown of Kilimanjaro's crater rim. From here, a descent leads to the ethereal Crater Camp, nestled at a staggering altitude of 5730m, making it the loftiest campsite on this majestic mountain. Weather permitting, Crater Camp rewards you with breathtaking vistas of the surrounding glaciers, an awe-inspiring sight.

The ultimate ascent commences in the serene early hours, the first rays of sunlight ushering in this pivotal leg of your journey. Though a mere two hours in duration, the high altitude ensures a slow and challenging climb. Ascending approximately 170 meters brings you to the revered summit of Uhuru Peak (5895m). Standing atop the "Roof of Africa," you'll be treated to a panoramic spectacle, witnessing the surrounding summits and landscapes in their full glory—an experience beyond compare. After a brief interlude and capturing celebratory moments, you'll descend to Barafu Camp just before noon, where the climbing crew awaits with a heartwarming and well-deserved meal. Following a short break, the descent continues towards Mweka Camp (3080m), approximately a three-hour journey away. As the sun rises on your final day, relish a well-deserved breakfast before embarking on a picturesque, three-hour trek back to the park gate. While on this last stretch, it's advised to hold off on tipping your porters until both you and your gear have safely reached the gate. However, don't forget to express gratitude to the remarkable staff at the gate. At Mweka Gate, an opportunity arises to sign your name and record details in a register—a symbolic closure to your incredible journey. Here is where triumphant climbers receive their summit certificates, with green certificates for those who reached Stella Point and gold certificates for those who conquered Uhuru Peak. From Mweka Gate, the descent continues towards Mweka Village, possibly a muddy 3-kilometer, onehour hike if the road conditions demand it.
